M&S SHWOP LAB
M&S SHWOP LAB - 'by M&S,Oxfam and Centre for Sustainable Fashion LCF May 3rd- 4th 2012'
MLH Studio were invited to make accessories/clothes from thrown out pieces supplied by Oxfam which would normally go into landfill by the SHWOP lab sponsored by M&S / Oxfam and Centre for Sustainable Fashion, LCF @ Dray Walk Gallery,London.
We were asked to go through the huge bins and pick out pieces to work with - We chose mens shirts/shell suits/duvet covers and was lucky enough to find some vintage fabric !!
We made mens shirts into double peplum belts shown on a mens blue shirt (new and never worn by the way !!!)
We found a vintage piece of "Sanderson" print floral upholstery fabric and made a classic shift dress and matching peplum belt seen here with hat by couture milliner "Noel Stewart"
The folded pink and red cumberbund belt is out of old shell suits as seen on a strapless dress pulled out of Oxfam bin !!!
Finally we have made an oversized navy and white collar exhibited with designer "Gary Harvey" denim evening dress made from 70m pairs of thrown out jeans !!
The pieces will be auctioned to raise money for Oxfam.
