after 10 days of relentless looking we are moving around the corner to a cute new studio starting TODAY !!
- Sadly our building will be transformed into luxury flats in the next year....
but we will have a great view of the building when it comes down
-Our new address from May 20th - "148 Cambridge Heath Road - floor 4 /Studio 3"
however the BIG plus and excitement is proper "HEAT" for the first time in 13 years ----yeah
- no more ridiculous ineffectual space heaters - REAL HEAT -
it is the small things in life ......

We went to Wat Pho today to see the biggest baddist buddah in town - a gold 45 metre / 15 metre high reclining buddah - set amongst the most detailed and ornate temples I have ever seen - Every single surface is considered and decorated
- What we did not know is that today is part of the three day "songkran" celebration whereby you visit your local temple and bathe the buddahs for good fortune and make sand pagodas to symbolically replace the sand carried away by ones shoes during the year -
We also battled crazy heat and humidity to see the grand palace another world crazy 3D surfaces and gold / gold and more gold .....no anglo-saxon reservations here ......
Tomorrow the new year starts and water partying continues for its 3rd and final moment - !!!

The biggest market in Thailand "Chatchak market" / Jim Thompson house and Thai New Year madness - we had a nite of being sprayed with water and ash being put on our faces as we walked by - the water sprayed is to wash away your past and celebrate the new - however it is now sprayed from plastic water guns!!
Jim Thompson revived the Thai silk industry and brought international attention to to weaving techniques in the 50's - he was an architect and built a gorgeous oasis of a house in the middle of the city - teak houses complete with ponds / antiques and beautiful wall weavings.

We arrived in Bankok today - the city of smiles ,sins and saints living together - We were welcomed with a crazy unreal sci-fi airport, oppressive heat , pollution and candy coloured cabs
Our lovely taxi driver today wore strings of amulet charms draped across his chest which consisted of various sculptures and buddahs encased in glass - You need them to be driver in Bankok !! The traffic just does not move .......so congested is the city.
We went to Pratunam market overflowing with heaps of cheap women's clothing - a shock to my system .... with not a scrap of naturel fibre in sight...this is a crazy polyester city so far .....but we saw some amazing street dancing with some great costumes.
We had the most gorgeous dinner at the "Blue Elephant" and got to experience the infamous "tuk" ride home - too much pollution for an open air ride for my taste....but now an experience done and not to be tryed again !!

Today we went on a tour of Koh Sumai to see the beautiful coastline and selection of Buddahs ! It is all about the pastels and gold - colours are creamy / details ornate and golden.
We also went to see the strangest mummy monk "Luong Pordaeng" who died in 1973 in a seated meditative position. Ever since his body has been on display in an upright glass case at the most beautiful ice cream coloured temple. Remarkably, even more than 30 years on the monk’s body shows little sign of decay but sports ray ban sunglasses and also hair intact !!
He is the most revered mummy monk thru out Thailand.
Next was the "big buddah" Koh Sumai style - golden and grand - his pose is a symbol of steadfastness, purity and enlightenment.
Pastel ties on the tree showing respect to the guardian spirits - pastel magic -
, Pastel coloured flowers and temple.

03 Apr 2013
I spent the day roaming around the fashion district looking at trims / fabrics and haberdashery - once again the wall display was in affect - and the fabric shops show walls of swatches instead of rolls of fabric - this vertical city is so organized and efficient - all things of one ilk are together - totally overwhelming to see however and once again a feast for the eyes / ears and nose.
a crystal shop display - !! on the street to draw customers in !!
, tables of beads taking up street space and no wall display this time
, fabric swatches on dislplay - (no rolls of fabric as they take up too much space )
, crazy beadcraft.... totally totally love !! kinda reminds me of making decorative bead/pin soaps that you made in camp in Canada !!! so bad its good .....

We went to see the Big Buddah - face wieghs 2 tons ?? and was assembled in the early 90,s by helicopter - amazing taking the chairlift up to the monastery and village.
We also went to the last fishing village in Hong Kong - all on built on stilts as the fisherman were considered so low in society they were not allowed to build on land !!
Ingenuity and necessity created villages suspended above the water - now of course depending on tourism mainly - but well worth seeing.
Crystal floored chairlift up to the Buddah.
, the big man himself - incredible
, The keepers of the fires for the incense offerings -
, offerings to the monastery -
, Tai O fishing village on stilts.

We arrived on Thursday March 28th late !! Friday we went round the food "wet" and "dry" markets and later did the classic tourist "peak" visit.
Saturday jet lag set in and we did brunch with knitwear designer Elizabeth Lau a stroll on "cat street".
Rain seems to have followed us from the UK !!
can we ever escape bad weather??
The view from our hotel room.
, Amazing architecture in Hong Kong and crazy stripy skyscraper !!
, The whole town is vertical and close living-
, We are staying in Sheun Wan area famous for its dry seafood merchants and stalls. The air smells salty and earthy with a hint of ginger.
, Veg display in the "wet market " first day here selling vegetables and live food.
, Frogs ready for eating !!
, The classic tourist trip up the peak - 1 1/2 hour wait to go up and 1 hour wait to come down - you can the see the whole of Hong Kong and so could every other tourist in town that was with us !!

I just bought myself a little xmas present - "How to take better pictures , David Baileys Book of Photography" circa 1981.
Voted best of the "how to" books by the Daily Telegraph back in the day.....
This is in the genius "Fashion Photography " section !!
The text says - "The choice of props and accessories for glamour and fashion photography is very important."
I leave you with this thought - have a great Holiday Season and New Years !!

Nov.19th was the launch of the East End Trade Guild launch - more than 400 traders were crammed into one of the most beautiful local churches to celebrate the union of East End independent traders. Moosa of "London Trimmings" invited me to go and it was really interesting to hear about the heritage and families that have been in the area for years.
Bethnal Green Pellici cafe owner "Nevio" was the Master of Ceremony . 4th generation paper bag shop owner "Paul Gardner" shared his stories of the how the longest established family business in Spitalfields has endured change. Portraits of all the members of the newly founded Guild and a short film followed with some gorgeous Spitalfields food and drink on hand.
It is an amazing achievement just to get them altogether as a unified voice - very inspiring
- Anyone for setting up a Designers Guild ?
East End Trades Guild at the Christ Church Spitalfields launch.
, The most devine tasting mature cheddar ever - and of course I love the way it was displayed - it looks abit like a cheesy MLH neck ruff !!

Nike flew in to see all 8 teams presentations at LCF for the "Makers Challenge" and MSI app usage yesterday. It was a tense and nail-biting day - I think my teams were averaging 2 hours a night sleep.... so emotions were running high and nerves were frayed !! They had to present concepts / mood boards / samples and final exhibition ideas in 20 minuites - all the while showing MSI usage , team collaboration, athletic awareness and sustainable conciousness - not easy at all.
Very tough project but completely and utterly absorbing as a mentor - it has been such an amazing project and a steep learning curve for all of us -
I am so proud of my teams - they worked so hard .....next week we will receive Nike feedback ...in the meantime my teams will be catching some much needed rest.
03 Sep 2012
Today we started the incubator with the Nike MSI app with our teams - for the next 2 weeks we will all be working closely to produce sustainable collection prototypes and designs to present to Nike for upcoming book and exhibition inclusion - I am hoping the best for my teams !
We are working at Mare Street today where my beautiful vintage "beach comber" bike from California was stolen today - !!

We went to Victoria Park for the closing ceremony - how good were the olympics ???
I never even bothered before London - amazing !! - Closing ceremony was abit odd with some strange choices (George Michael ? and Russel Brandt singing the Beatles?)
New female talents Adele and Florence seemed like they should have been there .....
......and finally in a country that has produced some of the best singer/songwriters in the world ........there were some huge holes in the music history......
I mean where were the old British singing icons that can still sing........ like the incomparable Kate Bush ? Mick Jagger ? Tom Jones ? Robert Plant ?or even Elton John ?
Now I am sure he would have cranked up the Red White and Blue with a spangle or two ...!!
The big screen in Victoria Park
, The big wheel and setting sun in the park ..... getting ready for the evening ....
, and it is goodbye to "tudor wenlock" ........I know you will be sad !

So high up - the pool was the size of my hand !!! but what a great atmosphere. This is a sport that truly embraces Los Vegas glamour with incredible athletics !!
The Russians were dazzling - they were just breathtaking (literally)
We did give a few cheers for our canadian girls who took a huge risk in their routine by being funny !!
Our canadian girls did good - 4th place but the crowd loved them - They were humorous, odd and eccentric. !!

This collection was bold, yet feminine. The strength is in the attention to detail and texture. 'Ribbon reclaim' was first introduced for the AW10 collection marking a change in direction focusing on sustainable accessories instead of ready-to-wear.
